About F/stop:
F/stop poetry was started as a love affair with photography, Columbia college Alumni camaraderie, and a mutual obsession with Mary Ellen Mark.  Through the years it turned into a business despite the fact that neither Erin nor Alicia ever saw themselves as “business owners. ”  Alicia  walked into a studio office one day with nothing but a few wedding images on a disc, and a website with a half naked photo of herself smoking a cigarette while wearing bear gloves for her interview. It was Erin that hired her with only seeing that.  Erin’s ability to judge the possibility and not the package made her brave enough to hire Alicia, even in her underwear. After Erin left, in a scene like Jerry McGuire, Alicia went with her. With a goal of making the kind of wedding photography that would convey how inspired they were by the people they met. They wanted to make photographs with the purpose of documenting love creatively and authentically . Because their couples are their inspiration they find it hard not to become their friends. They become so invested in their stories that they often go back to shoot the next stages of their lives, whether they are everyday moments, happy occasions, or heartbreaking obstacles.  It’s the heart breaking obstacles that remind us of our humanity and push us to be strong, so only shooting the happy moments seemed too easy. They are inspired by strong women, their community, and the underdog. They hope to bring their desire to be understanding and perceptive to every wedding because they know every couple has a story that is real, and beautiful. And like Mary Ellen Mark says “reality is always extraordinary.”

About Alicia:
Alicia’s relaxed personality always calms my nerves when I am stressing out over the littlest details.   Alicia is bright and hilarious.  She always knows what to do to make me laugh.  She’s a tea drinking wild women that has a love for life, her family, Phill, her puppy Florence, and of course her baby bunny best friend, The Professor Winston Peter Humphrey Bihrd.  I love the way Alicia sees the world and I know that one day she will change the world with her heart and her Canon!

About Erin:
The first wedding I ever shot with Erin she told me “that’s why I only shoot canon” when my Nikon camera battery was acting up. I thought she was a grump.  Now I know that her intensity and passion for her craft has pushed me as an artist and as a person and I don’t know where I would be with out her honesty and drive to always be better.. Here we are 3 years later and my respect for Erin not only as a person but as an artist grows all the time. Erin has a huge heart and is so good at finding the beauty in everyone she photographs. She is so driven to always be growing and inspires me all the time to look closer at everything.  Its her painstaking attention to detail not only in the photographs but in the moment she chooses to capture in them, that make me proud not only to call her my partner, but even more to call her my friend. She is always a hoot, and I think her love for her husband Micky is what inspires her to document the love stories of others. She is an amazing friend, an incredible photographer and one hell of a dedicated Hanson fan. Anyone would be lucky to get to hang out with her for a day and what better day than your wedding. :-)
